What’s new for 2010

Costs: Though meals and camping costs remain the same this year, we’ve had to raise the tuition to $295. Scholarship assistance is available as always for those who need it.

T-shirts: Karen Bell has once again created a beautiful T-shirt design—this year’s design commemorates ten years of a great music camp, with ten different instruments displayed. Shirts come in  women’s or men’s style, both in soft organic cotton, in “River Blue” color—see drawing. Both are available in five sizes: small, medium, large, extra-large, or XX (XX costs a little Xtra). Order when you register for camp—you’ll have a great new shirt to wear, and proceeds benefit your music camp!

Part-time campers: In response to requests, we are trying a pilot program of allowing people to come to camp just for the afternoons, or just for specific elective classes. If you’re interested, call for more information (415-663-1342 after 9 a.m.).

Staff: Lots of new teachers this year! The entire Stringdusters band will be on staff, with Chris Pandolfi on banjo, Travis Book on bass, Andy Hall on dobro, Jeremy Garrett on fiddle, Andy Falco on guitar, and Jesse Cobb on mandolin. Most of them will be teaching the upper level classes.

We also have most of Kathy Kallick’s band on staff, mostly teaching level 1 classes—with Kathy teaching guitar, Tom Bekeny mandolin, Greg Booth dobro, and Dan Booth bass.

Laurie Lewis is back, teaching level 2 vocals, and Tom Rozum teaching the level 1 vocals. Also from Laurie’s band, we have Scott Huffman, who will teach the level 2 guitar class.

From High Country, Butch Waller is back to teach his well-liked Monroe mandolin class. And from the Frank Solivan band, Frank himself will teach level 1 fiddle.

The indispensable Jack Tuttle will change gears and teach the oldtime fiddle class this year, and Keith Little will teach level 1 banjo.

Bruce Molsky will be back, after a long absence, to teach level 2 oldtime banjo, and Evo Bluestein, our former super autoharp teacher, returns to teach level 1 oldtime banjo this year.

And Sid Lewis, who has become a camp fixture, will join us again with his fun and valuable Jamming 101 program.

More detailed information on all these teachers and their classes is on our Instructors page.

Yet another superb staff at the CBA Music Camp!

Wednesday night program:  Once again, we are offering a special program Wednesday evening for music campers who are lingering or staying for the festival, as well as festival goers who arrive early. This year we are featuring Frank Solivan, Jr, who will be teaching at camp, along with his band, Dirty Kitchen. They will play a set in the intimate stage setting at Vern’s, and will also give a workshop about how to arrange songs with your band. Free to all music campers and festival attendees.
